Students returning after long absences do not automatically retain their previous grade. Former students may attempt any grade which they previously achieved.

Throughout the grading students must demonstrate the correct understanding of all basic commands, club etiquette, and follow the instructions given in chinese.
Students are expected to adapt their techniques to overcome any height, weight, strength, reach advantage their partner(s) may have.
During a grading, all students are expected to adapt their responses to any mistake made by their grading partner.
